Ever since my parents took me to visit Louisa May Alcott’s house when I was young, I have loved visiting house museums. When I see furniture, toys or clothes, I imagine what life was like for the person who sat in that chair, played with that doll or wore that dress. Each house offers a unique glimpse into the past. I hope that by sharing my experiences visiting house museums, you might be inspired to step inside the next old house you see with an “OPEN” sign outside.
